THE AREA

The in-person residency takes place in Villacidro, a small town in south-western Sardinia (Italy), 50 km from the island’s capital Cagliari, situated on the slopes of the Linas mountain chain, and renowned for its waterfall “Sa Spendula” and the untouched mountainous landscape and numerous hiking trails (check possible itineraries) The closest coast is Costa Verde (literally, Green Coast), about 40km from the town.

In autumn the town hosts a renowned Italian literary prize, “Premio Letterario Giuseppe Dessì”, with its program dedicated to contemporary literature and culture. The Dessì Foundation and the former house of the writer Giuseppe Dessì is located in the old part of town.
