UPDATE MAY

The current global crisis demanded strict regulations that still extensively limit the cultural field and organization of public events in Italy. Travel restrictions are still in place not only reducing the possibilities to travel across countries but also between Italian regions.

The residency takes place on the island of Sardinia, which can be reached only by plane or ferry. Due to these circumstances at the moment it’s possible to reach the island only in case of strict emergency and with a special request to the local authorities. After the arrival, it is mandatory to spend 14 days in self-quarantine.

As you can imagine, this makes the proper development of an art residency program rather difficult and highly limits the artistic practice and the engagement with the island’s surroundings and the cultural and local environment.
We don’t know when the restrictions will be reduced. For this reason, we think that the solution which best suits the residents’ safety and artistic engagement, is to postpone the first international program to next year, 2021. We hope you can understand our reasons for this adjustment.

The selected residents for the year 2020-2021 will be officially announced between the end of the month and the beginning of June.
